Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten into a 1/4-inch-thick round.
  6. Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Cook each pita for 2-3 minutes on each side until puffed and golden.
