Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
Form into small patties and place them in a greased baking dish.
Sauté diced onions until soft, then mix with cream of mushroom soup and beef broth.
Pour the sauce over the patties in the baking dish.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Uncover, top with cheese if desired, and bake for another 10 minutes until bubbly.
Serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice.
